I did not realize when I purchased these that you must prepare the sheets with sandpaper before coloring them if you are using colored pencils. The sheets are extremely slick so untreated sheets will not allow colored pencils to adhere. Fortunately, I had a piece of sandpaper lying around the house to scratch the sheet with. It was relatively simple to do, but I would think a child would have difficulty. Once the sheets are prepared they look just like shrinky dink sheets. These sheets are much cheaper than the ones you can order from Klutz. To me it is worth the little extra work but others may prefer to pay the extra cost for sheets that are already prepared. Also, be careful when cutting out your designs because the sheets have a lot of static and cling together tightly. I cut my sheets up into little pieces before I even realized I was cutting through 2 sheets.

It seems to me that the different brands of shrink plastic do behave a bit differently in the oven, but that doesn't make this brand deserve less stars--this is a good quality product. I haven't used the Shrinky Dink brand, but I've used Lucky brand shrink plastic and I like this one better (the plastic stays flatter in the oven for me). Overall, I think it's a great product!

These sheets do require some preparation to use with colored pencils. (Fine grit sandpaper, very simple, easy to do) The nice thing about them is that you can use them with permanent markers and the end result comes out pretty clear instead of opaque like standard Shrinky Dinks. However, you can find sheets of pre-sanded shrinky dink sheets at your local craft store (rhymes with Michael's) for about $6 for 10 sheets.
So this is a great product if you want the crystal clear sheets to use with permanent markers. If you're using colored pencils and you're okay with using the pre-sanded sheets, you could get a better price. (At time of this review, this product was going for $7+ for 6 sheets)
I haven't had any problems with any of the sheets curling in the oven. If you're worried about that, place a piece of cardboard, silpat or a brown paper bag over the dinks before you bake them.

Product Review : Moleskine Square Cahier Journal Kraft Large: set of 3 Square Journals
I've tried a half dozen Moleskine products over the past 7 or 8 years, and this one is my favorite. It's square-ruled, which is a must for me (making lists, I like having a column to align with, and engineering sketches "belong" on a grid). Compared to the pocket-sized products, this one is large--the trade off though is in writing comfort. But "large" is a misnomer--a legal pad is Large. This is 5"x8.5", so it's just large enough. I prefer the thinness and flexibility of this product over the hard-bound elastic-banded products, too. Thicker Moleskines mean that I'm carrying around a lot of old notes, plus they just take up more space in a bag. For me, having a thin notebook that I replace every few months is preferable. To each his own, however, that's the beauty of the broad Moleskine product line.

The Moleskine Cahier Journal Series is one of my most use sketchbooks.
As an artist that mostly draws with pen and colored pencils, who has lots of random ideas, a small sketchbook is very, very necessary. I do have big sketchbooks that are fancier with thicker paper, but it is quite bulky to bring them with me everywhere I go.
The pocket size plan journal is what I've using recently, I would draw something everyday to go with my daily gratitude journal. It is easy to carry, and not as much pressure as the fancier sketchbook where you think you can't make any mistakes (ha)........
For someone doing watercolor, this book is not for you. I use Sharpie Pen or Micron Pen by Sakura for the outline, Blick and Prismacolor colored pencils to color or shade. The pens won't bleed through the paper, but of course you will be able to see them from the other side of the paper. This is why I would only draw on one side of the paper.
