I have been doing illustration work for my personal enjoyment since the 1980s, and I have been using Prismacolor Premier colored pencils for nearly 15 years. This 48-pencil set was the one I started with, and it served me well. After using these pencils for a while I soon found that I wanted to expand my horizons and I invested in the 120 pencil set. Now you have the option of 72, 120, or 130+ pencil set. Enjoy!I have to tell you that these pencils are a pleasure to work with. I use them mainly for doing biological and scientific illustration, but I use them for other things as well. Everyone who has used these pencils, and even those who research them, will know that the soft cores are prone to breakage usually from handling.1) Check your packaging! This item was sent to me by Amazon in a box that allowed too much movement inside, and packing material only on the bottom. 2) Check your pencils! I found that 2 of the pencils were not from the set I ordered. They had different foil stamps and a few pencils were shorter ( which means they were Used). Make sure you get what you ordered, (I didn't get any Artstix in my package) It's not a debate about the usability of Artstix --just give me what I paid for! All in all, I felt like someone was trying to pull a fast one at my convenience. At least I only have to wait another week (even though I am a Prime member) and hopefully will get the right item packaged and shipped correctly, new and unused. |

To that end, it works excellently. I used to do it by lining up registration marks on the vinyl. This makes it a lot easier. Just tape down the second layer, line up and place the first layer; tape down the third layer, line up and place the combined 1st and 2nd layers, etc.The light in this light box is plenty bright. As well as layering vinyl decals, I can see it coming in handy for tracing images to vectorize (the sharpie method). One reviewer mentioned their light bulb being loose in it's fitting; I suspect she may have gotten a defective unit. The light bulb in mine does not move in the slightest amount; it's in there rock solid. Artograph provides a 5 year warranty with this light box, which is commendable amongst today's typical 1 year warranty. The Artograph 12x18 has been a big help. The angled surface make seeing the pattern easier because there is no need to hunch over the box. It's made tracing all the detailed patterns so much easier and it's larger surface means less shifting of patterns. I would highly recommend this to anyone who does a lot of pattern tracing. |

Now many years later, they remain the staple in my art studio.First, they are slightly magical in that you can have a really messy heavily penciled drawing and, not only will these erase better than any other eraser, but then you squeeze it a few times and all the pencil just goes away forever...I don't mean the specks of it fall on the floor, it just kinda implodes within the eraser via the kneading motion. I use these because I sketch out my paintings on a canvas first prior to painting and, whereas any other eraser leaves a trace of pencil line if I decide to erase and redraw a line, this gets up every bit. If feels squishy like clay once you play with it, yet silky and not sticky. It will form into a ball when you use it. This is deceptive though - this posting says that you are going to recieve the xlarge - 2.2 x 4.3 x 0.6 inches - eraser. What I recieved was a 30 cent regular sized kneeded eraser I can pick up at any store that sells pencils. They should rewrite the advertisement to show the correct size eraser that you will recieve. It is ridiculous. The eraser itself is the most excellent one, but the regular size not the large.
